Besides living in it, we also use our van as an office space while working. During our van conversion, I thought of different workplaces for the both of us.
Standing desk
Lex prefers to sit while working. I find it more comfortable to be able to stand. Therefore I have made sure that I have a standing area to work. Our kitchen counter is at a height that makes it easy for me to stand straight and work. The smaller countertop area is my normal workstation.
Extension table
We use our drawer table during meals and also to work at. The table is Lex’s main working area. He usually sits there to work. The drawer table has an extra extension so it can be enlarged when we need the extra space. This way we can also work at the table with two people.
Front seats
Sometimes one of us wants to take a nap in the back. Or the other person needs the full space in the back without someone constantly getting in the way. In such an instance, the passenger seat is a good place to work. Because of the height of the seat you sit on it ergonomically, like a normal chair. With a wooden plank over your lap you can work on the laptop.
Last words
In our van, we made sure we both had multiple places to work. When we both want to sit, we can do so at our extendable drawer table. We can also both use the countertop as a standing table. We switch places regularly, so we can decide for ourselves what is comfortable for us at that moment.
